Nationwide Document Services

FAQ's

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Nationwide Document Services operates primarily by appointment. Walk-ins may be accepted based on availability; however, appointments always receive priority, and not all walk-ins can be accommodated due to time constraints.

Most appointments take approximately 15 to 20 minutes, provided all required identification and information are available.

At Nationwide Document Services, electronic (digital) fingerprinting is a secure and paperless process. Your application is completed electronically, and your fingerprints are captured using a certified fingerprint scanner.

The fingerprint data is then securely transmitted directly to the RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) for processing. Once processed, results are mailed to the individual or to a third party, as specified in the application.

When fingerprints are electronically submitted to the RCMP and no criminal record match is found, results are typically mailed within 5 to 7 business days.

If there is a match within the RCMP criminal database, processing times may extend to 120 days or longer.

No. Vulnerable Sector Checks must be initiated through your local police service, as they may complete the check without fingerprints.

If fingerprints are required, the police will issue a fingerprint request letter. You may then visit Nationwide Document Services to have your fingerprints captured and submitted. In such cases, results are sent directly back to the police service for further processing. Please bring the police service’s name and address with you.

If your application has exceeded the standard processing time, you may contact the RCMP directly:

  • Email: CCRTIS-SCICTR@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
  • Phone: 613-998-6362
